About this speaker
Basis Yorkshire is an award winning charity based in Leeds for over 30 years. Basis aims to end stigma, create safety and promote empowerment for women across the sex industry and women and young people who are sexually exploited. Amber Wilson is Deputy CEO, focusing on business development, income generation and coordinating communications and training delivery. Within this role, Amber is passionate about influencing change through awareness raising campaigns and system change including on women’s homelessness and health inclusion of marginalised groups. Throughout this work we pro-actively include the voices of women and young people; representing the diversity of experiences and carefully balancing the risks of speaking out and further stigmatization, the value to the individual and the understanding it generates. We are proud to be the lead facilitator of the Leeds Frontline Network for Women’s Homelessness (incl. the Leeds RoughSleeping Census) and the Lloyds Foundation Collaboration program for Women’s Homelessness in Leeds.
