Women's Homelessness and the Removal of Children
A Talk by Justine Adams , Sam Chu and Rebecca Smith
About this Talk
This deep dive session will focus on the complex and intersectional issues around the removal of children and women’s homelessness. With lead speakers spotlighting the Growth Project, a co-produced accommodation service in Sheffield for women who have had or are at risk of having children removed and are also at risk of homelessness. This project is the first and only of its kind in UK.
Drawing on research from Sheffield Hallam university and exploring the systemic barriers posed by the social care and housing system for women who are battling for custody of their children and/or reunification. Looking at gaps in national service provision for this group, and best practice in co-produced and creative service design, including looking at the experiences of women who use the Growth Project.
