Hard Edges: Women's Homelessness and the Women's Rough Sleeping Census
A Talk by Prof. Sarah Johnsen , Judit Ambus and Amber Wilson
About this Talk
This session, with Basis Yorkshire, SHP and Prof Sarah Johnsen (author of Hard Edges, The Reality for Women Affected by Multiple and Severe Disadvantage) draws on the findings from the 2025 Women’s Rough Sleeping Census and the latest research into women's experiences of homelessness. The session will explore the importance of trauma-informed services for women and focus on recognizing the unique and diverse communities within women's hostels and accommodations, exploring both the strengths and challenges they face. Through a combination of presented information and facilitated discussion, the session will discuss how we can effectively work alongside these communities to ensure women access the best possible support.
